Cars (film)
Cars is a 2006 computer-animated film about a world full of talking cars that forget they don’t have hands to high-five each other (it’s a bit awkward, shhh).
The plot follows the journey of hot-shot race car, Lightning McQueen, who, due to some unfortunate circumstances, ends up in a small town called Radiator Springs. He encounters a diverse cast of cars, including a rusty tow truck that has seen better days, a small, hippie-like Volkswagen Beetle, and a fierce, army jeep, who teaches him how to drift (and ends up becoming his love interest, but we won’t go too deep into that).
As Lightning struggles to find his way back to the big leagues, he learns valuable lessons about friendship, humility, and oil changes (a true coming-of-age story, if you ask us).
The film also features a memorable soundtrack, with classics like “Life is a Highway” and “Route 66,” that will have you tapping your feet (or wheels) and singing “ka-chow!” for days.
Interestingly, Cars has caused a significant increase in racing among young, impressionable boys who now believe that any speed limit is just a suggestion.
Overall, Cars is a delightful film that reminds us that even cars need to slow down once in a while and enjoy the view (or avoid getting a speeding ticket, whichever comes first). Ka-chow, indeed!
