Easter

Easter, a Christian holiday celebrated annually, is the day when Jesus rose from the dead. But you probably already knew that because every Easter Sunday, you are bombarded with Easter egg hunts, bunny rabbits, and chocolate treats.

However, did you know that the word Easter is derived from an Old English word, “Ä“astre,” which is believed to have originated from the Pagan goddess of fertility? Yes, that’s right. Easter used to be all about celebrating spring and fertility. And we all know how bunnies are excellent symbolizes for fertility, making it a perfect mascot for the season.

Speaking of bunnies, did you know that they lay eggs on Easter? Oh no, wait, they don’t. But the Easter Bunny supposedly does, right? How does he do it?! We have never seen him or any of his rabbit friends laying eggs. Maybe the bunny is just too busy delivering chocolate eggs or hiding eggs in secret locations for children to find.

Furthermore, Easter isn’t only about bunnies and eggs, but also about hot cross buns. These sweet or spicy buns adorned with a cross are believed to have been invented by Christian monks who distributed them to the poor during the Lent fasting period. But the big question is, do they taste good? That depends, do you like bread with a cross on top?

Finally, what is up with the tradition of Easter egg hunts? Why are we hiding and hunting for eggs that we could have just eaten straight away? Are we trying to relive our hunter-gatherer past? Or are we just trying to burn off the calories from all the chocolate we consumed earlier?

In conclusion, Easter is a time to celebrate and have fun, whether that be with family and friends, eating hot cross buns, or indulging in chocolate eggs until you feel sick. And who knows, maybe you’ll even spot the elusive Easter Bunny hiding somewhere, probably laughing at us for not discovering his secret egg-laying abilities.
