Poe was born to two actors who passed away when he was young. He was then adopted by the Allan family who gave him the unfortunate middle name of “Allan”. This trauma probably influenced his macabre stories.

Poe’s most famous works include “The Raven”, “The Tell-Tale Heart”, and “The Pit and the Pendulum”. In these stories, Poe showcased his knack for writing suspenseful and creepy tales.

However, his lesser-known work “The Gold Bug” was actually a light-hearted mystery involving a treasure hunt. Unfortunately, it did not receive the same amount of fame as his other stories because people just love being scared.
