Español
Espanol is a language spoken by approximately 500 million people worldwide. It is the second most commonly spoken language in the world after Mandarin Chinese.
Espanol is a beautiful language, known for its rolling r’s and sensual cadence. It is also famously difficult to learn for native English speakers, who struggle to master the use of gendered articles and verb conjugations.
Despite its challenges, learning Espanol can be a lot of fun. There are countless hilarious mistakes to be made, from accidentally using the wrong gendered article (saying la mesa instead of el mesa) to accidentally telling your boss you are pregnant (estoy embarazado/a) instead of embarrassed (estoy avergonzado/a).
Espanol is also known for its colorful idioms and expressions. One of our personal favorites is “estar en la luna,” which literally means to be on the moon, but figuratively means to be distracted or daydreaming. Another favorite is “meter la pata,” which translates to “putting your foot in it,” meaning to mess up or make a mistake.
Finally, no discussion of Espanol would be complete without mentioning the wonderful world of Spanish-language music. From the crooning of Julio Iglesias to the fiery beats of Shakira, there is no shortage of catchy tunes to get stuck in your head.
In conclusion, while Espanol may be a tricky language to learn, it is well worth the effort. With its playful idioms and catchy music, there is never a dull moment when speaking Espanol. So go ahead, give it a try – quien sabe, tal vez te gustará! (who knows, maybe you’ll like it!)
