Grover Cleveland: The Only President to Serve Non-Consecutive Terms

Grover Cleveland was the 22nd and 24th president of the United States, but we know him better as the only president who couldn’t make up his mind.

Cleveland was born in New Jersey in 1837, and after graduating from college, he became a lawyer. But that was just a temporary job, because in 1881, he entered politics.

Cleveland was elected mayor of Buffalo, New York, and his administration was known for its honesty and efficiency. He was so popular that he was eventually elected governor of New York.

But Cleveland had bigger dreams, and in 1884, he ran for president. He won by a narrow margin and became the first Democrat to hold the office since the Civil War.

Cleveland was known for his honesty and his love of country, but what he really loved was beer. He was often seen drinking beer in public and even had a brewery installed in the White House.

But after serving one term, Cleveland lost his bid for re-election to Benjamin Harrison. So what did Cleveland do? He went back to New York and became a lawyer again.

But Cleveland couldn’t stay away from politics, and in 1892, he ran for president again. And he won! He became the only president to serve non-consecutive terms.

During his second term, Cleveland pushed for economic reform and tried to lower tariffs, but it didn’t go over well with Congress. He left office in 1897, and after a few years of retirement, he passed away in 1908.

Grover Cleveland was a man of many talents, but unfortunately, he will always be remembered as the president who couldn’t make up his mind.
