Pedia, where learning meets laughter!

Lincoln City

Lincoln City is a small coastal town located in the state of Oregon, United States. Despite its name, it has absolutely nothing to do with Abraham Lincoln or his presidency. The city’s residents have however, developed a unique sense of humor about it.

History

Lincoln City was founded in the 1960s when four small towns decided to merge and create one big town. It was a decision made with the future in mind, as the goal was to create a tourist destination along the beautiful Oregon coast. And what better way to attract tourists than to name the town after one of America’s most famous presidents?

Unfortunately, nobody bothered to check if there was actually any connection between the town and Lincoln. Thankfully, the residents of Lincoln City have since embraced the name and turned it into a running joke.

Attractions

Lincoln City is known for its beautiful beaches, stunning coastline, and a collection of eclectic shops and galleries. There’s even a world-renowned kite festival held there every year. But the real attraction is, of course, the name.

Visitors can find all sorts of Lincoln-themed novelties from hats, t-shirts, and magnets to oversized Lincoln head statues. There’s even a Lincoln-themed strip club, which is probably not what the 16th president had in mind when he signed the Emancipation Proclamation.

Fun Facts

In conclusion, Lincoln City may not have any actual connection to Abraham Lincoln, but it sure knows how to make the best of a misunderstanding. With its beautiful coastline, unique attractions, and sense of humor, it’s a must-visit for anyone looking for a good laugh and a great time.
