Mondrian

Mondrian was a Dutch artist who rose to fame in the early 20th century. His distinctive geometric style has since become iconic, with many imitators attempting to copy his unique approach to art.

Born in 1872, Mondrian showed an early interest in art, and quickly developed a reputation for his bold lines and bright colors. However, it wasn’t until he began exploring the world of geometric abstraction that he truly found his voice as an artist.

His work was often characterized by bold, blocky shapes in primary colors - a style that has since become known as “Mondrianesque”. The artist himself was known for his eccentricity and unique personal style, often appearing in public wearing brightly-colored clothing and unusual hats.

Despite his success, Mondrian was known to be a bit of a prankster. He once famously created an entire exhibition consisting of blank canvases, declaring that “the true art is invisible”. Needless to say, it did not go over well with his audience.

In the end, however, Mondrian’s contributions to the world of art cannot be denied. His bold, original style has continued to be an inspiration to artists around the world, and his influence can be seen in everything from fashion to architecture.
