Paul Hewson, commonly known as Bono, is an Irish singer, songwriter, and philanthropist. He is also the lead vocalist for the rock band U2. But let’s not talk about his achievements and awards. Let’s discuss the man himself.

Born in Dublin in 1960, Hewson got his nickname Bono from a hearing aid store. Apparently, he used to wear huge glasses and the store owner called him Bono Vox, which means ‘good voice’ in Latin. Bono liked the name and dropped Vox, probably because it sounds like a fancy washing machine brand.
