South Africa

South Africa, or as locals call it, “South AF” is a country located at the southernmost tip of the African continent. It is known for its diverse population, beautiful landscapes and an almost unhealthy obsession with braai (barbecue).

History

South Africa has a rich and complex history. It was colonized by the Dutch in the 17th century, then later by the British, and after that, it just got really confusing. Let’s just say that there were a lot of wars, a lot of discrimination, and eventually, Nelson Mandela became president and everything was hunky-dory.

Culture

South Africa has a unique and vibrant culture, which can be best summarized with the phrase “Rainbow Nation.” It’s basically a fancy way of saying that everyone is welcome, and we all party together.

One of the most popular cultural activities in South Africa is braai. It’s sort of like a barbecue, but more intense. We’ll braai in any weather, at any time, and with any excuse. Got a promotion? Braai. Having a bad day? Braai. It’s a national obsession and we’re proud of it.

Wildlife

South Africa is home to some of the world’s most amazing wildlife, including lions, elephants, rhinoceros, and Kardashians.

Just kidding about the Kardashians. Kind of.

Language

South Africa has 11 official languages. Yes, you read that right. Eleven. We’re not really sure why, but we think it has something to do with challenging our tongue-twisting abilities.

Conclusion

In conclusion, South Africa is a crazy, beautiful, and diverse country, full of braai, wildlife, and linguistic challenges. Come visit, but don’t forget your apron or your earplugs, because there will be lots of food and lots of noise.
