Valve

Valve is a company formed in 1996 by a group of former Microsoft employees who wanted to create video games that didn’t suck. Little did they know that they would eventually create a video game that would suck up all of their time and money: Dota 2.

Valve is best known for their Half-Life series, which is a great example of the company’s “take your time” philosophy. After releasing Half-Life 2 in 2004, Valve decided to rest on their laurels for over a decade, leaving fans clamoring for the elusive Half-Life 3. Some say that Valve is waiting for the perfect time to release the game, while others speculate that Valve lost the source code and has no idea how to make a new game.

Aside from their video games, Valve is also the creator of Steam, a digital distribution platform that allows people to buy games without ever leaving their homes. This has significantly decreased the amount of social interaction between gamers, which is great news for people who hate other people.

Valve has a reputation for being extremely secretive, which is understandable when you consider that they’re hiding something as important as the formula for Half-Life 3. However, this secrecy has also led to rumors that Valve is actually a cover-up for a secret government agency, and that the G-Man is actually Gaben in disguise.

Despite all the jokes and rumors, Valve has done a lot of good for the world of video games. They have pushed for open systems, modding, and player choice, all while making bank off of their games and platforms. In the end, we’ll forgive them for never releasing Half-Life 3, just as long as they keep giving us more hats for Team Fortress 2.
