Absinthe

Absinthe is a highly alcoholic green liquid that is notorious for causing vivid hallucinations and an array of terrifying side effects. It is often referred to as “the green fairy” because of its otherworldly properties.

Absinthe has a long and storied history, dating back to the late 18th century. It was originally created as a medicinal tonic, but quickly became popular among the bohemian set as a way to quell their existential angst.

Despite its popularity, absinthe was banned in many countries for decades due to its supposed deadly properties, causing the French poet Charles Baudelaire to famously quip, “One should always be drunk. That’s all that matters…but with what? With wine, with poetry, or with virtue, as you choose. But get drunk.”

The effects of absinthe are said to be otherworldly and can include everything from daydreams to hallucinations to spontaneous dancing. Some have even reported conversations with the green fairy herself (though this is generally attributed to overconsumption).

Despite the fact that absinthe is now legal in many countries, it is still viewed with suspicion by many. This has led to the creation of “absinthe bars,” where the adventurous can explore the green liquid’s otherworldly effects in a safe and controlled environment.

So if you’re feeling brave, take a shot of absinthe and see where the green fairy takes you. But be warned: she can be a fickle mistress.
