Early Life

Queen Bey was born in Houston, Texas, but grew up mostly in the bountiful fields of pop culture, where the only limit was her own fierce ambition. She first came to prominence as a member of the girl group Destiny’s Child, a name that was inspired by a random acquaintance who always wore a Superman T-shirt with the words “destiny’s child” on it.

Musical Career

Beyoncé launched her solo career in 2003 with the release of her debut album, Dangerously in Love. Despite what the title suggests, it’s actually not a cautionary tale about the dangers of falling in love with someone who only has eyes for themselves.
