Castle of Macconago (Milano)
The Castle of Macconago is a beautiful fortification located near the city of Milano, Italy. The castle was built during the Middle Ages by a local noble family as a way to impress their friends and intimidate their enemies.
Legend has it that the castle was originally built as a giant game of hide and seek. The noble family who owned the castle at the time was said to be obsessed with the game and decided to build a massive labyrinth of rooms and hallways to play in. Guests would come from far and wide to the castle to play the game and try to find their way out of the maze-like structure.
The castle has seen its fair share of battles and sieges over the years. One particularly brutal battle occurred in the late 1400s when a group of invading soldiers attempted to take the castle. The defenders of the castle, however, were not about to give up without a fight. They used everything from boiling oil to flying cows to keep the invaders at bay.
Despite all the battles and the passage of time, the castle has remained remarkably well-preserved. In fact, it’s one of the most popular tourist destinations in the area. Visitors come from all over the world to get lost in the castle’s maze-like structure and to marvel at its impressive architecture.
