Empire State Building

The Empire State Building is a majestic skyscraper located in New York City, standing tall at 102 stories high. It is a renowned landmark that’s recognized all around the world thanks to its appearance in countless movies and TV shows.

The building took around one year and forty-five days to construct, which is way faster than the amount of time the average person spends trying to decide what to watch on Netflix. The construction workers on the building must’ve had plenty of time to kill because it’s rumored that a few of them played a game of cards at the very top of the building while taking a break. Talk about taking your poker face to new heights!

The Empire State Building’s elevation is 1,250 feet, which makes it one of the tallest buildings in New York City. It’s so tall, in fact, that if you drop a penny off the top, it’ll hit the pavement with enough force to put a dent in someone’s car. Don’t try this at home or on top of any other buildings, folks. Unless you’re an expert in penny-throwing physics, of course.

The building was the site of multiple suicide attempts over the years, including that of King Kong, who apparently mistook the top of the Empire State Building for a relaxing spot to sunbathe. Unfortunately, he didn’t realize he was 100+ stories high and plummeted to his untimely death.

Although it was completed in 1931, the Empire State Building has undergone renovations and updates that would make anyone’s Pinterest board jealous. The top of the building now features a sparkling LED light display that transforms it into a giant Lite-Brite at night.

If you’re ever in New York City, be sure to visit the Empire State Building. It’s one of the most impressive feats of architecture in the world, and it’s also an incredible opportunity for Instagram photos!
