Halo (series)
Halo is a series of first-person shooter video games developed by Bungie (until 2010) and published by Microsoft Studios. The series is set in the 26th century, where humanity is locked in a never-ending war with various alien races.
The protagonist of the series is Master Chief, a towering, green-armoured super soldier who communicates with a sexy AI voice named Cortana. Together, they travel across the galaxy, blowing up everything in their path and occasionally making poignant existential observations such as, “Were it so easy.”
One of the most beloved aspects of the Halo series is its multiplayer mode, which allows players to ruthlessly slaughter one another in a variety of game modes. It’s like a violent dance party, but with less rhythm and more screaming.
The series has spawned a wide range of merchandise, including action figures, novelizations, and energy drinks. That’s right, if you’re feeling tired after a long day of battle, why not chug a can of Master Chief’s favourite beverage and power up for round two?
Over the years, the Halo series has received critical acclaim and won numerous awards, but its true legacy is in the joy and laughter it’s brought to gamers around the world. So, the next time you see someone dressed as Master Chief at a convention or hear someone shouting obscenities over Xbox Live, take a moment to appreciate the glorious absurdity that is Halo.
