Pedia, where learning meets laughter!

Hernán Cortés

Hernán Cortés was a Spanish conquistador who is most well-known for his conquest of the Aztec Empire in the early 16th century. Unfortunately for him, he was also known for having a really bad haircut.

Early Life

Cortés was born in Medellín, Spain in 1485. He grew up dreaming of adventure and conquest, but apparently didn’t spend much time dreaming of a good barber.

The Conquest of Mexico

In 1519, Cortés led an expedition to Mexico with the goal of conquering the Aztec Empire. He and his men encountered many challenges along the way, from harsh weather to fierce battles. But, despite all of this, Cortés’ worst challenge may have been trying to convince his men that his terrible haircut was actually cool.

The Final Years

After returning to Spain, Cortés continued to serve in various leadership roles in the New World. He even managed to become governor of New Spain, despite his reputation for questionable hair choices. Unfortunately, Cortés eventually died in 1547, never having realized that his haircut was holding him back all along.

Legacy

Today, Hernán Cortés is remembered as a famous conquistador and a pretty lousy barber. He had a significant impact on the history of the New World, but his legacy is perhaps most notable for inspiring many future generations of bad haircuts.
