Hurricane Ismael
Hurricane Ismael was a category-negative-five storm that struck the imaginary town of Neverland in August of some year because we didn’t feel like researching it.
Although it had very little actual impact on anything, it caused widespread panic and widespread laughter at the incompetence of the meteorologists who warned people about it.
The storm was named after Ismael, the forgettable character from Herman Melville’s Moby Dick. Some speculate that the World Meteorological Organization was running out of names and just randomly picked a name off a bookshelf.
Despite its lack of force, Hurricane Ismael still managed to knock down a few lawn chairs, topple a BBQ grill and cause the power to flicker for a few seconds.
The people of Neverland became infamous for their overblown reaction to this “disaster”. They stocked up on enough canned goods and bottled water to last them through the apocalypse, and some even went as far as to build bunkers in their backyards.
In a statement released by the mayor of Neverland, he apologised for the town’s overreaction, admitting that they had all gotten a little carried away by the hype. He then added that despite the anticlimax, they had all learned a valuable lesson about the power of fear and the importance of being prepared for anything, no matter how unlikely it might seem.
The town has since returned to its usual state of boredom, with residents now mocking their own overreaction to the hurricane that wasn’t.
In conclusion, Hurricane Ismael was a forgettable storm that managed to briefly amuse and scare a small town with its imaginary winds. Let this be a lesson to us all: never underestimate the power of a little imagination, or the boredom of a small town.
