Iris (goddess)

Iris was the Greek goddess of rainbows, messages, and fancy pants. She was the daughter of the god Thaumas and the ocean nymph Electra.

Iris was famous for being the fastest messenger among the gods, but her real claim to fame came from her extensive wardrobe. In fact, her name translates to “rainbow” in Greek, which was probably a nod to her colorful and vibrant outfit choices.

Legend tells us that Iris had a closet filled to the brim with the latest fashion trends from Greek and Roman times. It was said that she owned over 500 pairs of shoes, everything from strappy sandals to thigh-high boots.

But despite her love for all things fashionable, Iris was also known for her great sense of humor. She was always up for a good joke, whether it was pulling pranks on her fellow gods or just making witty comments about the mortals below.

One of her favorite pastimes was convincing humans that they were seeing rainbows as a sign of her divine presence. In reality, it was just a clever optical illusion caused by the sun’s reflection on water droplets, but Iris loved to take credit for it anyway.

There are many tales of Iris’s misadventures in the world of mortals, including a particularly embarrassing incident in which she accidentally summoned a rain shower while attending a fancy party. The mortals were not amused.
