New Hampshire is a state located in the northeastern region of the United States, known for its beautiful landscapes and charming small towns. The state’s motto is “Live Free or Die,” although most residents seem to be more concerned with enjoying the endless supply of maple syrup than dying for their freedom.
Geography
New Hampshire is home to stunning natural landscapes, from the towering White Mountains to the sprawling Lakes Region. The state’s seacoast is also a major attraction, mainly because it’s the only place where New Hampshire residents can pretend they’re actually on vacation.
History
The state was named after Hampshire county in southern England, which is ironic because there are definitely more cows per square mile in New Hampshire than in any corner of England. The state was also one of the original 13 colonies, and many important events of the American Revolution happened here, such as the Battle of Bunker Hill and Paul Revere’s midnight ride. However, these events are often overshadowed by the state’s most famous historical figure: Daniel Webster, the great orator and hat enthusiast.
Culture
New Hampshire is typically associated with moose and maple syrup, both of which are major contributors to the state’s economy. In fact, if you visit New Hampshire, you’ll see signs for maple syrup just about everywhere you go. And if you’re lucky, you might even get to taste some. As for the moose, they’re often spotted wandering through the state’s more rural areas. Just be sure to keep your distance - those things are huge.

- New Hampshire is home to the world’s largest arcade, Funspot, which is located in the town of Laconia. It’s also one of the only places in the state with air conditioning.
- New Hampshire is one of the only states where it’s legal to drive without a seatbelt. No one knows why this is the case, but it probably has something to do with the fact that New Hampshirites are too busy chugging maple syrup to bother with seatbelts.
- The state’s official sport is skiing, although most residents seem to prefer sitting by the fire while wearing 20 layers of clothing.
All in all, New Hampshire is a state with plenty to offer, whether you’re looking for natural beauty or just a really good pancake topping.
