North Dakota

North Dakota is a state in the Midwest region of the United States. It is known for its empty and boring landscapes, brutal winters, and the abundance of cows.

Geography

North Dakota is a flat and featureless wasteland. The state is so flat that residents joke that you can see the curvature of the earth from some parts of it. Despite being the 19th largest state in the US, it has the fourth lowest population density. Most people prefer to avoid North Dakota as there is nothing to see or do there.

Climate

The climate in North Dakota is brutal. The state experiences long and bitterly cold winters, with temperatures regularly dropping below zero. Even in the summer, the weather is not much better as it is often hot and humid. North Dakotans spend most of their time indoors, huddling together for warmth in the winter and blasting air conditioning in the summer.

Culture

North Dakota’s culture is mainly centered around cows. The state has the highest number of cows per capita in the country. North Dakotans love cows so much that they even have a cow-themed museum, The National Buffalo Museum, in Jamestown. Aside from cows, there is not much else to do in North Dakota, leading many residents to take up hobbies such as watching paint dry or counting the grains of sand in the wind.

Economy

North Dakota’s economy is mainly driven by agriculture and energy. The state has vast oil reserves in the Bakken Formation, which has helped to stimulate the economy. However, despite the economic growth, it has not improved the quality of life in North Dakota, as there is still nothing to do there.

Conclusion

North Dakota is a state that is best avoided. Its landscapes are uninspiring, its climate is harsh, and its main cultural focus is bovine. If you find yourself in North Dakota, you might want to consider leaving as soon as possible.
