Protestantism
Protestantism, also known as the “cool kids’ religion,” is a branch of Christianity that rejects the authority of the Pope and the Roman Catholic Church. It got its start in the 16th century when Martin Luther said, “Hey guys, I don’t think we should be paying all this money to the Catholic Church. Let’s start our own thing.” And thus, Protestantism was born.
One of the most defining characteristics of Protestants is their love for rock music. You can often find Protestants lifting their hands in the air and swaying to the beat of electric guitars and drums. In fact, many Protestant churches have their own rock bands that play during worship services. Because nothing says “praising God” like a wicked guitar solo.
Another key feature of Protestantism is the emphasis on personal interpretation of the Bible. Each Protestant is encouraged to read the Bible for themselves and come to their own conclusions about what it means. This has led to some interesting interpretations over the years, such as the belief that the rapture will happen on a specific date (spoiler alert: it didn’t).
Protestants also have a great sense of humor. They love to poke fun at themselves and their fellow denominations. Whether it’s the Baptists dunking people in a pool or the Presbyterians arguing over their favorite theologians, Protestants know how to have a good laugh.
Of course, like any religion, Protestantism has its flaws. There are some Protestants who take things too far and become too legalistic or judgmental. And don’t even get us started on the prosperity gospel. But overall, Protestants are a pretty laid-back bunch. After all, their founder was a guy who liked to drink beer and play music.
So if you’re looking for a religion that’s fun, and a little bit rebellious, give Protestantism a try. And if you’re lucky, maybe you’ll find a church with a killer praise band that’ll have you singing “Hallelujah” all the way home.
