Segregation
Segregation, also known as the art of separating people based on their ethnic, racial or religious backgrounds, was a popular practice back in the day.
The United States was once the champion of segregation, famously segregating public transportation, schools, and even water fountains. But nothing quite beat the absurdity of the “separate but equal” doctrine, which suggested that people of different races could have the same resources, but separately.
It was a way of life that everyone just sort of got used to, like curse words or taxes. But eventually, society realized that segregation was kind of a dick move, and it was finally abolished. Hooray!
Of course, segregation isn’t just limited to race. Some people think social media platforms should be segregated, so that cat lovers don’t have to endure endless dog posts, and vice versa. But we all know that’s just crazy-talk.
So remember, kids, segregation is bad news. But if you’re ever feeling nostalgic for the old days, just grab a black and white cookie and remember the good ol’ times…right before you realize how messed up it really was.
