Tax

Tax, a word that strikes fear into the hearts of grown human beings is actually a simple concept that we can all appreciate – especially the government employees that collect it from us.

A tax is nothing more than the government’s way of taking a little bit of your hard-earned cash and turning it into their hard-earned cash. You see, they need your money to pay for important things like fancy junkets, new office furniture, and their absurdly large salaries.

The history of taxes is long and complicated, but the basic idea goes something like this: One day, a bunch of government officials got together and decided that they liked the idea of having more money. They realized that they could simply take some of the money that citizens had earned and use it for themselves. Thus, the concept of tax was born.

Over the years, people have come up with all kinds of excuses to avoid paying taxes. Some have even been able to get away with it (at least for a little while) by hiding their money in offshore bank accounts or refusing to file their taxes altogether. But in the end, the IRS always wins. Always. It’s like playing a game of Monopoly – only your opponent is a faceless government entity with an endless supply of money.

Despite the inherent unfairness of taxation, there is one silver lining: taxes can be funny. Just picture the face of the person behind the desk at the IRS when you file your taxes dressed as a clown, or as a vegetable. The possibilities for hilarious tax-related pranks are endless.

So next time the taxman cometh, just remember: he’s probably not as scary as you think – unless you owe him money. Then he’s terrifying. And hilarious.
