The USA: A Place Where Dreams Come True (or So They Say)

As one of the most powerful and influential countries in the world, the United States of America (aka the USA) is a land of infinite possibilities. From Hollywood to Wall Street, from the Grand Canyon to Disneyland, the USA has something for everyone–unless you’re a sane person, that is.

History

The USA was founded in 1776, when a bunch of English troublemakers decided they’d had enough of paying taxes and started their own country. They rigged up a flag (with stars and stripes, because why not), wrote a Declaration of Independence (basically a breakup letter to the King of England), and went to war against their former rulers. After a few years of fighting, the USA emerged victorious and officially became its own nation.

Geography

The USA is a massive chunk of land that takes up most of North America. It’s so big, in fact, that it’s divided into 50 states, each with its own unique culture and quirks. Some states are known for their beaches and sunshine (looking at you, Florida), while others are known for their mountains and snow (hello, Colorado). And then there’s Texas, which is just… Texas.

Culture

When it comes to culture, the USA is a melting pot of different ideas, beliefs, and traditions. It’s a place where people from all over the world come to chase their dreams, whether that dream is to become a movie star, a Silicon Valley billionaire, or the next American Idol. Of course, it’s also a place where people eat hamburgers for breakfast, wear cowboy hats unironically, and think that football is the only sport that matters.

Politics

Ah, politics. The USA is famous (or infamous) for its political system, which basically consists of two parties yelling at each other on cable news. Every four years, the country holds a presidential election, during which the citizens get to choose between two candidates who are usually less popular than a root canal. The winner then moves into the White House, a big old mansion in Washington, DC that’s nicer than your entire neighborhood.

Conclusion

All in all, the USA is a pretty cool place–if you’re into super-sized portions, extreme weather, and a whole lot of noise. If not, well… there’s always Canada.
