Anaheim
Anaheim is a city located in Orange County, California, that is famous for one very specific thing: Disneyland, the happiest place on earth! But there is so much more to this vibrant city that boasts a rich and storied history.
History
Anaheim began as a small agricultural community, and its name derived from the German word “ana” meaning “home” and “heim” meaning “village”. But who cares about that when there are giant talking mice running around?
Attractions
As mentioned earlier, the main attraction of Anaheim is Disneyland, where dreams come true…and so do long lines and screaming children. But it’s not all just fun and games in Anaheim. They even have a recognized “sportsball” team called the Angels. They also have a convention center, which is a great place to avoid getting wet on a rainy day.
Cuisine
If you are looking for a good meal in Anaheim, you are in luck! Anaheim is home to some of the best tacos this side of the border. And if tacos aren’t your thing, there’s always Disneyland’s famous turkey legs. Nothing screams “theme park food” quite like a giant, greasy turkey leg, am I right?
Trivia
- Anaheim used to be a major wine-producing region, until a nasty little pest called phylloxera wiped out the vineyards. That pesky little bug is no joke.
- The city is also home to the world’s largest potato. Yes, you read that right. A giant potato. Apparently, it’s quite a sight to behold.
So there you have it, folks. Anaheim, California, where dreams come true (if your dreams involve standing in line for hours and hours).
