Chemistry, also known as the study of atoms and molecules, is a subject that drives most students to tears. It is the perfect example of a combination of two things that people hate the most: math and science. Despite that, the subject has some weird and wonderful facts that are sure to make you chuckle.

Periodic Table

The periodic table, the backbone of chemistry as we know it, is a table that includes all the elements found on Earth. From Magnesium to Einsteinium, each element has its own unique properties and characteristics. Some elements are even so rare that they cannot be found on our planet, such as Plutonium.

Chemical Reactions

Chemical reactions are a way to make new things from what we already have. They can be, for lack of a better word, explosive. Some reactions are so volatile that they literally blow things up. So, for all those who dream of smashing things down and blowing things up, chemistry is the perfect subject for you!

Molecular Bonding

Molecular bonding is how atoms stick together to create molecules. It’s similar to how some people have the perfect connection like that between cheese and wine. However, others (like boron) can’t connect with anyone no matter how hard they try. Maybe they’re too boron-g in nature.

Acids and Bases

The world of acids and bases is like the world of ‘friends’ - some are sour and some are sweet. Acids have a sour taste like lemons while bases have a bitter taste like baking powder. Watch out for hydrofluoric acid though, it’s not something to mess with!

Organic Compounds

Organic compounds are the reason why you can enjoy a variety of fruits, vegetables, and alcohols in your life. Without them, your life would be artificially bland. Organic compounds are the base of every living thing on our planet, so cheers to them.
