Ganymedes

Ganymedes, in Greek mythology, is known for being one of the most handsome mortal men on earth. He was so attractive that even the gods couldn’t resist his charm.

Zeus, the king of the gods, took notice of Ganymedes and was instantly smitten. So, like any rational god would do, Zeus transformed himself into an eagle and swooped down to take Ganymedes to Mount Olympus.

Once on Olympus, Ganymedes quickly became Zeus’s cupbearer. However, Zeus’s wife Hera wasn’t thrilled with her husband’s new obsession and found ways to make Ganymedes’s life difficult.

For example, Hera would constantly spill the wine that Ganymedes had poured for Zeus, blaming it on him for not properly serving her husband. Talk about a workplace nightmare!

Despite Hera’s objections, Zeus continued to favor Ganymedes and even granted him immortality. Ganymedes became the constellation Aquarius, forever pouring water from his jar in the stars.

So, next time you pour a glass of water, raise it to Ganymedes, the ultimate cupbearer and object of Zeus’s affection.
