Henry Ford
Henry Ford was an American inventor and businessman who is best known for creating the Ford Motor Company and revolutionizing the automobile industry. He was also the inventor of the assembly line, which allowed for mass production of cars and made them more affordable for the average person.
But that’s not all there is to know about Henry Ford. Here are some lesser-known facts about the man:
Ford was a cat lover and reportedly owned several of them. He once said, “I don’t know much about history, and I wouldn’t give a nickel for all the cats in Rome, but I do love a good feline companion.”
Ford was a big fan of soybeans and even built a car with body panels made entirely out of soybeans. Unfortunately, the car didn’t catch on, as it was prone to being eaten by livestock.
In addition to cars, Ford was also interested in creating a flying car. His prototype, however, was deemed too dangerous to fly and was never brought to market. It did, however, make for some great footage in a “World’s Worst Inventions” documentary.
Ford was a fan of the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. He once famously said, “I’d rather be camping in the woods than sitting in a boardroom any day.” This was likely because boardrooms didn’t have the option of throwing axes at a target.
Ford was an early advocate for healthy eating and even created his own line of soy-based health foods. Unfortunately, they tasted like cardboard and sawdust, leading one critic to say, “I would rather eat my own tire treads than this stuff.”
Despite these quirks, there’s no denying that Henry Ford was a brilliant inventor and businessman who changed the world of transportation forever. Who knows what other cat-related, soy-based inventions he could have come up with if given the chance!
