J.K. Rowling: The Queen of Wizarding World and Twitter Clapbacks
J.K. Rowling, known to Muggles as Joanne Rowling, is a British author who has made a name for herself in the literary world with her incredible storytelling and wizarding world of Harry Potter.
Born in 1965, Rowling had a colorful and challenging life. She was a single mom living on welfare when she first started writing Harry Potter. According to legend, she once wrote in a cafe to save on heating costs, which makes us wonder if that cafe was The Leaky Cauldron.
Rowling’s imagination and creativity knows no bounds. She has created a mystical world of magic and spells that has taken readers on an incredible journey over the past two decades. With seven books in the series and eight movies, Rowling has established herself as the queen of children’s literature.
But do not underestimate Rowling’s fame and killing wit. She’s active on Twitter, and her clapbacks are almost as famous as her books. Once, a user tweeted at her, “@jk_rowling Look, it’s our lord and saviour,” with a picture of a potato that bizarrely looked like she had drawn glasses on it. Rowling responded with, “I thought it was going to be Voldemort again. #awkward”
Rowling’s Twitter presence also sheds light on her personality, and the secret she kept- her name. In her profile, she lists herself as “Robert Galbraith’s creator, unbowed and unbroken.” who is a pseudonym for the mystery novels she also writes. Astute followers, though, have noticed that the initials for her three names -Joanne, Rowling, and Katherine- when put together, make JKR. When confronted with this, Rowling jokingly replied, “I didn’t know that. The Internet is full of surprises today, but that’s a cool coincidence.”
All in all, J.K. Rowling is a wizarding world legend with a sense of humor that’s almost as magical as her characters. While we’ll always hold onto Harry Potter, we’re excited to see what other literary journeys Rowling has in store for us.
