Ready Jet Go!
Ready Jet Go! is a children’s animated television show that premiered on PBS Kids in 2016. The show is intended to teach children about astronomy and space exploration, but if you’re like me, the only thing you learned was how to sing the catchy theme song.
The show follows a group of friends, including Jet Propulsion, an alien from the planet Bortron 7. The first thing you notice about Jet is his funky haircut, which looks like something your grandma might knit. But don’t let his hair fool you, Jet is actually a pretty cool dude.
Jet’s Earth friends, Sydney, Sean, and Mindy, are constantly amazed by his space knowledge and his spaceship, which can transport them anywhere in the universe. Jet’s parents, Celery and Carrot Propulsion, are also aliens from Bortron 7, but they have disguised themselves as humans and run a frozen yogurt shop on Earth. Honestly, I would be way more interested in their frozen yogurt flavors than their alien secrets.
One of the best things about Ready Jet Go! is the cast of characters. Mindy is especially hilarious, with her obsession with ice cream and her constant questioning of Jet’s alien life. And let’s not forget about the adorable and loyal pet dog, Sunspot. If you haven’t seen Sunspot’s “Slip, Tip, and Top” dance moves, you’re missing out.
But the real star of the show is the learning opportunities it provides. From learning about the planets (Jupiter is Sean’s favorite because it’s “so big and so stinky”) to understanding the scientific method, Ready Jet Go! makes learning about space exploration fun and exciting. And who knows, maybe you’ll even be inspired to become an astronaut or a scientist someday.
So if you’re looking for a show that’s both entertaining and educational, look no further than Ready Jet Go! And remember, even if you don’t become an astronaut, you can still sing that theme song at the top of your lungs. “Ready Jet Go! Ayyyyy!”
