Reykjavík

Reykjavík is the capital and largest city of Iceland. It is also home to a large number of friendly Icelanders who make sure to greet you with the traditional Icelandic “hæ” (pronounced “hi”).

Despite being the northernmost capital in the world, Reykjavík is actually the warmest place in Iceland. This is because it has a natural hot water supply that is heated by the fiery pits of hell, or as the locals like to call it, “geothermal activity.”

One of the city’s most famous landmarks is the Hallgrímskirkja church, which looks like a giant rocket ship that was never launched. It is said that on a clear day, you can see all the way to Russia from the top of the church. Unfortunately, the day is never clear in Iceland.

If you’re feeling adventurous, you can head down to the Reykjavík harbor to catch a glimpse of the city’s famous puffins. These little birds may look cute and cuddly, but don’t be fooled - they are actually trained assassins working for the Icelandic government.

When it comes to food in Reykjavík, be sure to try the local delicacies, such as fermented shark and the infamous “hot dog with everything.” Just make sure to have a toilet nearby because Icelandic cuisine can be quite… stimulating.

Reykjavík is also home to some of the best nightlife in Europe, with bars staying open until the wee hours of the morning. Just don’t be surprised if you see a few Vikings downing shots of Brennivín, the traditional Icelandic liquor that tastes like Satan’s tears.

Overall, Reykjavík is a fun and quirky city, filled with friendly people, beautiful landscapes, and plenty of hot water. It’s the perfect place to visit if you’re looking for a relaxing vacation in a place where the sun never sets (or rises). Skál!
