Pedia, where learning meets laughter!

Sea Turtle

The sea turtle, also known as the ‘big dude of the sea,’ is a majestic creature found in oceans all around the world. These chilled-out reptiles have been around for over 100 million years and are loved by humans for their laid-back attitude and carefree lifestyle.

Appearance

Sea turtles are pretty much the ocean equivalent of a hippie with dreadlocks. With their squished-looking faces and big, soulful eyes, they’re definitely the breeziest-looking animals on the beach. They rock a stunning hard shell that does nothing for their aerodynamics, but hey, at least it doubles up as a portable home!

Diet

Sea turtles are basically the vegans of the ocean. They’re all about their greens and love nomming on seaweed as well as other kinds of algae. They also enjoy a healthy serving of jellyfish and crab every once in a while, though they hate it when the crabs fight back and poke them in the nose!

Mating

When it comes to reproduction, sea turtles are all about that slow loving. These romantic creatures will spend hours just floating around with their significant other before their moment of passion. And when they finally do get down to business, the males make some pretty interesting noises. Let’s hope they don’t wake up the neighbors!

Threats

Unfortunately, not everyone loves sea turtles as much as we do. These chill sea creatures have a lot of predators that are constantly trying to catch them for their next meal. They’re also threatened by human activities like pollution and fishing, which can damage their habitats and reduce their food supply.

Conservation

Thankfully, lots of people are fighting for the turtles’ rights and working hard to protect them. There are various conservation projects set up to protect sea turtles around the world. People are also encouraged to reduce their use of plastic and other pollutants that can harm the turtles’ habitats.

Sea turtles are a true icon of the oceans and we should all do our part to make sure they stick around for a long time. Who knows, they may even end up being the ones that rule the world one day (well, not really, but they’d definitely be the chillest rulers ever).
