Three Little Pigs Cartoons

The Three Little Pigs is a classic folktale that has been adapted into countless forms, most notably in the world of cartoons. These cartoons often take the original story and put a comedic twist on it, creating memorable and hilarious moments.

One of the most well-known Three Little Pigs cartoons is the 1933 Disney short film, Three Little Pigs. This cartoon was a hit with audiences and its iconic song “Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?” has become a cultural touchstone. The film features the three little pigs building their houses, only to be confronted by a conniving and hungry wolf. The pigs ultimately defeat the wolf by trapping him in a pot of boiling water, all while singing their catchy tune.

In 1941, Tex Avery’s Blitz Wolf took the Three Little Pigs tale and satirized it with a World War II theme. The cartoon featured a Nazi wolf who was trying to infiltrate an American pig factory. But instead of building houses out of straw, sticks, and bricks, the pigs were building tanks, airplanes, and submarines. The cartoon was a bold move, as it satirized the enemy just as the US was entering the war.

Another Three Little Pigs cartoon that deserves praise is the 1949 Warner Bros. cartoon, High Diving Hare. While not a direct retelling of the original folktale, this cartoon featured Bugs Bunny teaching a small pig how to avoid becoming dinner for a hungry fox who had been pursuing him. The two of them team up to sabotage the fox’s dreams of a good meal by forcing him to attempt a death-defying high dive.

Cartoons are often seen as childish entertainment, but these Three Little Pigs adaptations have stood the test of time and continue to make audiences laugh. So next time you’re feeling down, tune into one of these hilarious cartoons for a little dose of piggie humor.
