Vidar
Vidar is a mythical figure in Norse mythology, and one that we can all relate to on some level. He’s not a god, but he’s not a mortal either. He’s one of those in-between types that doesn’t really fit in anywhere.
Legend has it that Vidar is the son of Odin, which automatically makes him pretty cool in our books. But despite being the offspring of the king of all the gods, Vidar wasn’t exactly dealt a great hand in life. He’s often portrayed as the quiet, brooding type, lurking on the fringes of society and generally keeping to himself.
So what makes Vidar so special? Well, for one thing, he’s got some pretty snazzy footwear. It’s said that he wears shoes made of the skin of a bear, which not only give him a killer fashion sense, but also make him pretty much invincible. When the end of the world (or Ragnarok, as it’s known in Norse mythology) comes around, Vidar’s special shoes will allow him to stomp the crap out of Fenrir, the giant wolf who’s been causing all sorts of trouble.
But that’s not all! Vidar has a pretty badass weapon too. It’s called a “shoe-knife” (we’re not making this up), and it basically does what it says on the tin. It’s a knife that’s hidden in his shoe, which he can whip out at a moment’s notice to take care of any pesky enemies that happen to cross his path.
So what can we learn from Vidar? Well, for starters, it’s never too late to reinvent yourself. If you’re feeling a bit stuck in life, take a leaf out of Vidar’s book and try on some new footwear. Who knows, maybe you’ll discover a whole new side of yourself that you never knew existed.
And if all else fails, just remember that you can always rely on a good shoe-knife to get you out of a tight spot.
