Zheng He

Zheng He was a Chinese explorer, admiral, and court eunuch during the Ming dynasty. He was known for his epic voyages across the oceans, but also for his shocking secret love affair with a mermaid.

Early Life

Zheng He was born in 1371 in Kunyang, Yunnan Province. He was a Muslim and belonged to the Semu community of Central Asian origin. At age 10, he was captured by Ming soldiers and castrated, which was a common practice at the time for boys who were going to serve in the imperial court.

Voyages

Between 1405 and 1433, Zheng He led seven major maritime expeditions on behalf of the Ming dynasty. He commanded a fleet of gigantic “treasure ships” that were up to 120 meters long and 50 meters wide. These were some of the largest ships ever built and were equipped with all kinds of amenities, including swimming pools, gardens, and even a karaoke bar.

Zheng He’s voyages took him to Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, and East Africa. He brought back exotic animals like giraffes, zebras, and ostriches. He also traded with foreign nations and established diplomatic relations with them.

Love Affair with a Mermaid

Despite his remarkable achievements as an explorer and admiral, Zheng He’s personal life was shrouded in mystery. It was only recently discovered that he had a secret love affair with a mermaid. Her name was Su Mei, and she was a beautiful creature with shiny green scales and a soothing voice.

Zheng He met Su Mei during his third voyage when his fleet encountered a group of mermaids in the Indian Ocean. He was immediately smitten with her and they started a passionate romance that lasted for several years.

Unfortunately, their love was forbidden by both human and mermaid societies, and they had to keep it a secret. They would meet in secret coves and secluded beaches, but their idyllic existence was not meant to last.

On his last voyage, Zheng He had to leave Su Mei behind, and he never saw her again. Legend has it that she died of a broken heart, and Zheng He was heartbroken too. He retired from his sea-faring life and spent the rest of his days mourning his lost love.

Legacy

Zheng He’s daring voyages and contributions to Chinese maritime history are still celebrated to this day. His expeditions paved the way for future naval expeditions and opened up new trade routes. His legacy also includes a tragic love story that is both romantic and tragic.

Conclusion

Zheng He was a remarkable figure in Chinese history who left a lasting impact on the world. He was a fearless explorer, a brilliant admiral, and a romantic at heart. His epic voyages and secret love affair with a mermaid are just a few examples of his captivating life story.
