Delaware

Delaware is a small state located on the East Coast of the United States. It is home to approximately 1 million people, and is a popular destination for tourists and history buffs alike.

History

Delaware was first settled by the Dutch in the early 1600s, but was later taken over by the British. In 1776, it became the first state to ratify the United States Constitution, earning it the nickname “The First State”.

Fun fact: Delaware was so excited to ratify the Constitution that they actually forgot to sign it until 200 years later. Whoopsies!

Geography

Delaware is about as flat as a pancake. Seriously, you could stack up the entire state and it still wouldn’t make a molehill. Okay, that might be a slight exaggeration, but you get the point.

The state is also home to some fantastic beaches, which makes it a great summer vacation spot. Just don’t go during the colder months, unless you enjoy being buffeted by icy winds more than you enjoy being able to feel your fingers and toes.

Culture

Delaware is often overlooked in terms of its cultural contributions to the world. But did you know that Sandra Bullock spent part of her youth in Delaware? Or that the state is famous for their “Diamond State” dogfish? Of course you didn’t, because nobody cares.

But despite its lack of celebrity status, Delawareans are a proud and friendly bunch. They love to chat about the weather, sports, and the latest gossip from the PTA meeting. If you’re lucky, they might even invite you to a fish fry or backyard BBQ.

Economy

Delaware’s economy is based mainly on agriculture and tourism, which means that most people who live there are broke as a joke. But on the plus side, it’s also one of the cheapest states to live in! So if you don’t mind being stuck in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do, then Delaware is the place for you.

Conclusion

So there you have it, folks. Delaware: the state that America forgets about. But despite all of its flaws, it’s still a great place to visit…as long as you bring your own fun.
