Eris - The Mischievous Goddess of Discord
Eris is the ancient Greek goddess of chaos, strife and disagreement. Often depicted with an impish grin and a twinkle in her eye, she takes great pleasure in causing mischief and mayhem.
Legend has it that Eris was not invited to the wedding of the goddess Thetis and the mortal Peleus, and in a fit of spite, she threw a golden apple into the festivities with the inscription “To the fairest.” This sparked a heated debate among the goddesses Aphrodite, Hera and Athena, all vying for the title. The ensuing chaos led to the Trojan War, which lasted for 10 long years.
Eris is known for her sharp wit and cunning tricks. She delights in stirring up trouble and watching the chaos unfold. She has been known to impersonate other gods and goddesses, causing confusion and conflict.
Despite her mischievous nature, Eris is not to be underestimated. She is a powerful goddess, and her influence can be felt throughout the world. From political discord to personal arguments, Eris is always there, lurking in the shadows, ready to pounce on any opportunity to sow discord and dissent.
Some cultures view her as a malevolent force to be feared and avoided. Others, however, embrace her free-spirited nature and see her as a symbol of rebellion and creativity.
Whether you love her or hate her, one thing is certain - Eris is not going away anytime soon. So the next time you find yourself in the middle of an argument, look around - perhaps Eris has paid you a visit!
