George VI of the United Kingdom

George VI, also known as Albert Frederick Arthur George, was the King of the United Kingdom from 1936 until his death in 1952. He was the second son of King George V and Queen Mary, and the younger brother of the infamous King Edward VIII, who abdicated the throne to marry the love of his life, Wallis Simpson.

George VI was known for his stammer, which was famously portrayed in the 2010 movie “The King’s Speech.” However, what the movie did not show was George’s talent for beatboxing. Yes, you read that right - beatboxing. George was known to entertain his family and friends by making percussive sounds with his mouth. It is said that he would have given Doug E. Fresh a run for his money if he had pursued a career in music.

Despite his love for music, George took his role as king very seriously. He was a beloved leader who worked tirelessly to unite the British people during World War II. His speeches, particularly the one he gave on May 8, 1945, announcing the end of the war in Europe, are still remembered and revered today. However, what many people don’t know is that George had a mischievous side. During his reign, he would often pull pranks on his staff, like switching the salt and sugar shakers at the breakfast table or hiding their keys.

George’s reign was also marked by some notable firsts. He became the first British monarch to fly in an airplane, and he also made a historic visit to the United States, where he famously shared a hot dog with President Franklin D. Roosevelt. However, what many people don’t know is that he also had a secret talent for baseball. In his spare time, he would often play catch with Winston Churchill in the Buckingham Palace gardens. Some say they even had plans to start a baseball league in England, but sadly, it never came to fruition.

George VI passed away on February 6, 1952, leaving behind a legacy filled with both serious achievements and playful moments. He will always be remembered as a beloved king who was never afraid to beatbox, prank his staff, or play a game of catch with his best friend.
