Hurricane Eta: The Uninvited Guest

Hurricane Eta, also known as “The Party Crasher”, was a Category 4 hurricane that stormed through Central America in November 2020. While hurricanes are usually unwelcome guests, Eta took it to a whole new level by barging in uninvited.

Eta first came onto the scene like an overeager freshman trying to impress the seniors. It churned over the Caribbean Sea, building up intense winds and causing widespread panic. As it approached Central America, people started boarding up their homes in preparation for the storm. But Eta had other plans. It made a sharp left turn, surprising everyone, and headed straight for Nicaragua, Honduras and Guatemala.

Residents along Eta’s path could only wonder what they had done to offend the hurricane so much. It seemed like Eta was out for vengeance, knocking down trees, flooding streets and causing widespread destruction as it passed through.

It’s hard to imagine what Eta was thinking when it made landfall. Maybe it was looking for a good time at the locals’ expense. The hurricane was like that friend who always shows up unannounced and overstays their welcome, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. Only this time, it wasn’t just the mess in the living room that needed cleaning up, but entire communities that needed rebuilding.

While Eta may have thought it was the life of the party, the residents of Central America had other thoughts. They were left to pick up the pieces of Eta’s wild ravaging of their homes, businesses and communities.

All jokes aside, hurricanes like Eta remind us of the power of nature and the importance of being prepared for the unexpected. Let’s hope that the next time a hurricane comes knocking, it will bring the kind of gifts that don’t require mopping up afterwards.
