James VI and I 😄

James VI and I was a super fun guy who had two amazing names. He was the king of Scotland as James VI and also became the king of England as James I. Talk about making history!

Early Life 👶

James was born on June 19, 1566, in Edinburgh Castle, Scotland. His parents were Mary, Queen of Scots (what a cool title!) and her not-so-cool husband, Lord Darnley. Sadly, James’ dad passed away when he was only eight months old. 😢

Becoming King of Scotland 👑

At the super young age of one, James became King of Scotland. That makes him the youngest king ever! 🎉 He did have to wait until he was 37 to become a king again, but hey, who’s counting?

James’ Awesome Rule 💪

James was known for being a pretty chill ruler. He believed in absolute monarchy, which is like being the boss of everything. But unlike some other absolute monarchs, James was all about unity. He wanted everyone to get along and be cool with each other.

The Gunpowder Plot 💥

One of the craziest things that happened during James’ reign was the Gunpowder Plot. Basically, a group of guys wanted to blow up the House of Lords and take down King James in 1605. But lucky for James, a dude called Guy Fawkes got caught just in time. Phew!

James VI and I wasn’t only famous for being a king, he also liked to write. Yep, he was an author! He wrote books about cool stuff like witches, demons, and even a guide to being a king. He definitely knew how to keep busy!

After ruling Scotland and England for over 20 years, James passed away in 1625. He left a legacy behind, not just as a king, but as someone who really cared about peace and writing cool books.
