Panjab

Panjab is a region in South Asia that has historically been known for its bhangra beats, butter chicken, and being the birthplace of the mighty Daler Mehndi.

The region is home to many famous Punjabi icons such as the turban-wearing Sardarji, Lassi (a yogurt-based drink that will make you dizzy), and the large-hearted, loud Punjabi aunty who is always feeding everyone around her.

The people of Panjab are known for their love of food, and the cuisine is a mouth-watering mix of Indian spices and rich dairy products. Some of the popular dishes include sarson da saag (a vegetable dish made with mustard greens), makki di roti (a cornmeal flatbread), and chole bhature (chickpeas with deep-fried bread).

The language spoken in Panjab is Punjabi, which is known for its fun-loving and often misunderstood phrases such as “vadiya, kam karliya” (well done, you have done the work) and “jatt di pasand” (the choice of a farmer).

Despite its jovial nature, Panjab has also been the site of many conflicts, from the Partition of India in 1947 to the Khalistan movement in the 1980s. But no matter what, the people of Panjab have always bounced back with their trademark resilience and joie de vivre.

So, if you ever find yourself in Panjab, be sure to put on your dancing shoes, grab a plate of butter chicken, and join in the festive spirit that has made this region one of the most vibrant and beloved in all of South Asia.
