Nintendo Entertainment System - The Console That Started it All
The Nintendo Entertainment System, better known as the NES, is a video game console that was first released in 1985. This 8-bit marvel changed the video game world forever and gave birth to some of the most iconic games and characters we know and love today.
It all started with a team of Japanese game developers who thought it would be fun to create a console for people to play video games at home. Little did they know that their idea would revolutionize the gaming industry and lead to hours of childhood memories for millions of people all around the world.
The NES was a simple yet effective console with its rectangular-shaped design and unforgettable gray and black color scheme. It was so popular that even your grandma might have had one in her living room, nestled in between her collection of framed crochets and porcelain figurines.
Some of the most famous games for the NES include Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, and Donkey Kong. These games were not only groundbreaking in terms of graphics and gameplay, but they also introduced us to some of the most beloved video game characters of all time. Who doesn’t remember spending hours guiding Mario through the Mushroom Kingdom or helping Link save Hyrule from the evil Ganon?
Of course, there were also some less memorable games for the NES too (looking at you, Action 52). But that’s okay - we still appreciate the NES for all its quirks and imperfections.
Despite being old enough to be considered a relic by today’s gaming standards, the NES is still highly regarded by game enthusiasts and collectors alike. Many of us still have our original consoles tucked away in our attics, waiting for the day when we’ll dust them off and relive our childhood memories once more.
So, here’s to you, Nintendo Entertainment System. You may be old, but you’ll always hold a special place in our hearts - and on our bookshelves.
