Nursultan Nazarbayev: The Man, The Myth, The Legend!
Nursultan Abishuly Nazarbayev was the first President of Kazakhstan and definitely not someone you want to mess with. Born on the 6th of July, 1940, in the sleepy town of Chemolgan, Kazakhstan. He was once a man of humble beginnings, but now he’s famous for creating his own city and having a secret laboratory under his presidential palace.
Early Life
Nazarbayev was a precocious child from the start, always eager to learn and explore. He even caused a minor incident in his hometown when he accidentally set fire to his neighbor’s barn with a makeshift rocket he had constructed.
At 29, Nazarbayev graduated from Kazakhstan State University with a degree in economics. Despite being the youngest member of the Communist Party, he quickly rose through the ranks to become the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan.
Rise to Power
In 1991, when the Soviet Union disbanded, Nazarbayev took the reins of power in Kazakhstan, becoming its first president. And he’s been there ever since, ruling with an iron fist, (and a velvet glove sometimes), for nearly 30 years. He’s won six consecutive presidential elections since Kazakhstan’s independence, which some people say is impressive, while others say it’s just plain suspicious.
Personal Life
When he’s not busy running a whole country and a secret laboratory, Nazarbayev likes to read books on literature and history. And it’s said that he has a collection of rare books that’s larger than the entire national library of Kazakhstan.
Legacy
Despite being praised and criticized, there is no doubt that Nazarbayev has left an indelible mark on Kazakhstan. He’s responsible for launching Kazakhstan’s space program, creating the nation’s capital city of Astana from scratch, and building a giant pyramid-shaped building that some say is his secret headquarters.
As locals whisper, “he has a palace in the middle of nowhere and an airport in his backyard.”
So, there you have it – the story of Nursultan Nazarbayev, a man who has created a unique legacy in Kazakhstan’s history. One thing is for sure, you won’t forget about him anytime soon, unless he hypnotizes you with his mesmerizing mustache!
