Savannah

Savannah is a city in the southern state of Georgia, United States. It is known for its charming historic district, beautiful parks, and of course, the infamous Savannah College of Art and Design.

Legend has it that the city was named after a prank played by its founding father. Upon discovering a group of tired travelers resting under a tree, he asked them where they came from. When one of them replied “Savannah”, the founder exclaimed “Well, welcome to Savannah!” and thus the city got its name.

Savannah is also famous for its “Squares”, which are small green areas that are scattered all around the town. These squares were built during the city’s colonial era to serve as gathering places and to aid in defense against pirates. Nowadays, they are mostly used for tourists to take Instagram pictures and for locals to walk their dogs.

One of the most well-known Savannah residents was Paula Deen, a celebrity chef who became famous for her Southern-style cooking. Her restaurant, The Lady and Sons, is a popular spot for tourists to get a taste of traditional southern fare. However, it’s advised to bring your own defibrillator as some of her dishes are known to be a bit heavy on the butter.

Savannah is also known for its ghost stories and haunted tours. As a matter of fact, there are more haunted buildings in Savannah than Starbucks locations in Seattle. This has led to some creative marketing ideas such as “Spirits with Spirits” tours, where tourists can enjoy a drink at a haunted bar while listening to spooky stories.

In conclusion, Savannah is a lovely and quirky city that offers something for everyone. Whether you’re into historic architecture, Southern cuisine, ghost stories or just need a quick break from the Florida heat, Savannah is definitely worth a visit. And who knows, maybe you’ll even discover a hidden talent for art and design while you’re there!
