Introduction

Sumer, aka the land of a thousand surprises, was an ancient civilization located in Mesopotamia, in what is now modern-day Iraq. Buckle up! We’re about to embark on a journey through the weird and wonderful world of Sumer.

The Sumerians were a creative bunch who loved coming up with bizarre traditions and inventions. They had a knack for leaving people scratching their heads and saying, “How did they even think of that?” Let’s take a peek at some of their most notable shenanigans:

Yep, you heard it right! The Sumerians were the cool kids who said, “Who needs hieroglyphics when you’ve got cuneiform?” Cuneiform consisted of a bunch of tiny wedge-shaped marks carved onto clay tablets. It was their way of sending text messages… just way slower. 😅
