Cuba (also known as “The Island of Cigars and Vintage Cars”)

Cuba is a fascinating country located in the Caribbean, known for its vibrant music, delicious cuisine, beautiful beaches, and, of course, cigars! The country was discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492, and since then, it has been through many significant cultural changes, which are still evident in present-day Cuba.

Geography:

Cuba is the biggest island in the Caribbean, with an area of 109,884 square kilometers. The country is surrounded by turquoise waters and beautiful coral reefs, which make it a perfect destination for divers and beach lovers. The Cuban flag is blue, white, and red, just like the Russian flag, but don’t be fooled – there’s no vodka in Cuba!

History:

Cuba has had a fascinating history, filled with revolutions, pirates, and communism. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the country was heavily influenced by American culture, which is why you can see so many vintage American cars on the roads of Cuba. These cars have been lovingly maintained over the years, and you can’t help but think they’re held together with duct tape and hope.

Despite its political regime, Cubans are known for their warmth and hospitality, and you might find yourself being hugged by a stranger on the street for no apparent reason.

Tourism is a significant part of Cuba’s economy, and the country welcomes millions of visitors every year. If you’re planning a trip to Cuba, make sure to bring cash – credit and debit cards aren’t widely accepted. And don’t be surprised if you find yourself singing “La Bamba” with a group of strangers in a crowded bar – that’s just the Cuban way.
