List of Avengers Members
The Avengers is a team of superheroes who have come together multiple times to save Earth from threats both big and small. While they always seem to get the job done, their roster has been anything but stable over the years. Here’s a list of some of the most memorable members of the team:
Ant-Man / Giant-Man / Goliath / Yellowjacket
Hank Pym, a brilliant scientist who created a suit that lets him shrink and grow at will, has had more code names than most people have had haircuts. He’s a founding member of the Avengers, but unfortunately, his unpredictable temperament and tendency to switch identities as often as he changes his underwear have made him a bit of a liability.
The Wasp
Janet van Dyne, better known by her code name The Wasp, is Hank Pym’s on-again, off-again love interest and teammate. She’s got wings and can also change size, like Ant-Man. The only problem is that she’s so small that half the time the other Avengers forget she’s there.
Iron Man
Billionaire Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, doesn’t actually have any superpowers. He’s just really rich and invents his own flying suits and weapons. He’s often the team’s leader, but let’s be honest, most of them just stick around to see who he’s going to date next.
Captain America
Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, was a scrawny kid who got turned into a steroid-fueled super-soldier during World War II. He’s patriotic to a fault, but his rigid sense of morality and tendency to lecture his teammates on the importance of American values can be a real buzzkill.
Thor
Thor is a Norse god with a magic hammer that only he can lift. He’s probably the most physically powerful Avenger, but his tendency to speak in outdated Shakespearean-style dialogue and refer to everyone as “verily” makes him hard to understand at times.
The Hulk
Dr. Bruce Banner is a brilliant scientist who turns into a giant green monster whenever he gets angry. He’s basically a walking temper tantrum, and his giant leaps often cause more destruction than the villains he’s fighting.
Hawkeye / Ronin
Clint Barton, aka Hawkeye, is a skilled archer who joined the Avengers because he was tired of getting kicked out of every circus and carnival he performed at. He’s a bit of a hothead, but he’s proven himself to be a valuable member of the team. He’s also changed his code name to Ronin at least once, just because he felt like it.
Black Widow
Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, is a former Soviet spy who defected to America and joined the Avengers. She’s a master of espionage, but she’s also got a complicated past (as all former Soviet spies do) and tends to keep her emotions bottled up.
Scarlet Witch / Wiccan
Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch, has reality-altering powers that have caused more than a few headaches for the Avengers. She’s also struggled with mental health issues, but thankfully, her son Billy inherited her powers and became the hero Wiccan, so now they can work through their family issues together on the team.
Vision
An android created by the villainous robot Ultron, Vision ends up joining the Avengers and becoming one of their most reliable members. He’s got superintelligence, flight, and laser beams, but unfortunately, he’s also got a tendency to speak in monotonous robotic tones that can put everyone to sleep.
Spider-Man
Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, is a teenager whose spider abilities let him climb walls, swing on webs, and, you know, fight crime. He’s hilarious and loves to make quips, but unfortunately, his tendency to talk during fights has led to him getting knocked out more than once. Plus, half the Avengers are now closer to his aunt May’s age than his.
So there you have it, some of the many heroes who have helped save the world as members of the Avengers. And despite their quirks and issues, we’ll always love them. Except maybe Ant-Man. We could take him or leave him.
